War and Peace, is neither a novel nor a poem, and still less a historical chronicle… It is a philosophical discussion, taking Schopenhauer as one of its main inspirations. To consider this epic novel, one of the greatest expressions of Russian literature, is to reflect on life, and the heroism that it demands.
You may also wish to put your mind at rest (if at all possible) when reflecting on the inevitable carnage that war entails.
War and Pieces of Mind uses the technique of assemblage, bringing together different elements as if they were the spoils of a war fought heroically and yet with intellect.
